Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer…

For the past 6 months or so, I have been using the Bobbi Brown Corrector and Creamy Concealer under my eyes. This three step system of corrector, concealer and light powder really helps hide my dark circles. I have some fine lines emerging under my eyes so the creamy corrector and concealer are perfect to help combat this issue. I have noticed that the circles are still slightly visible while wearing this concealing method but the area under my eyes is significantly brighter and somewhat dewy which is great.

The only problem I have is that applying the corrector, concealer and then light dusting of powder can be a bit time consuming. Yes, the finished outcome is worth it but sometimes I just need to be able to slap one product on under my eyes and go. I’ve been wondering, is there a product out there that is just as moisturizing, provides full coverage and doesn’t settle into fine lines?

I heard that the Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer would be a possibility. This stuff is supposed to be able to help conceal tattoos so I figure it would definitely help with my dark purple circles!

I was color matched at Sephora to shade #7 Sand and took a sample home to test. I’ve been using it for about 2 weeks now experimenting with both light and heavier application under the eyes. The concealer itself is rather thick which is nice, but the coverage is surprisingly not that great! My dark circles end up creeping back during the day! The Bobbi Brown concealer kit does tend to fade a bit during the day too but not as much as Make Up For Ever! Make Up For Ever it is not!  I have also been dabbing it on some blemishes that have popped up recently. The initial coverage of the blemishes is ok, but not really any different than my inexpensive Maybelline Superstay Concealer that I usually use on pimples and various other skin annoyances.

In short, this concealer is good, but I feel like it would be great for someone who doesn’t have very dark circles under the eye area. Since I have stopped using it under my eyes and have been so happy to return to my Bobbi Brown, I have just been using the sample up on my pimples and whatnot. Before forking over $32 on this concealer at Sephora, I recommend getting a sample first. It may work great for you! The search for quick and effective concealing continues!!

UV Protection For Colored Hair…

Tags

, ,

I recently blogged about my search for a good product which provides protection against UV rays. Currently, my hair is dyed black and I want to keep the color true during the sunny warm months ahead. My previous trials with UV protector sprays have left my hair an oily mess. Not a cute look.

I finally decided on an inexpensive leave-in spray by Paul Mitchell.

The Color Care Color Protect Locking Spray is to be sprayed on damp hair as stated on the bottle. I asked one of the stylists at Ulta about spraying it on dry hair and  he said damp or dry it’s just as effective! I was a bit skeptical when purchasing this product in fear that it would leave an oily sheen on my hair as previous products have.

I have been using this spray for about a week now and love it!! There is no oily residue and it has a subtle fresh scent which is nice. I’m very happy with the fact that it is affordable yet still a higher end product. The only downside that I have noticed is that it does flatten my hair a bit on the top and sides of my head. This is slightly annoying but it’s nothing that a little hairspray and styling won’t fix.

All in all I am very happy with this product. It’s easy to use on damp or dry hair and makes me feel confident that my hair color will be protected during the spring and summer!

Indian Food For Lunch…

Tags

There is nothing better on a hot day than a steamy, saucy heap of Indian food to satisfy your lunchtime hunger. Today before embarking on my usual coffee and errands, I stopped and had a wonderful plate of Chole and rice which hit the spot…

Chick peas cooked with onions and tomatoes and spiced with tumeric ,paprika, cumin, cayenne and fresh ginger!

Chick peas cooked with onions, fresh ginger, tomatoes and spiced with tumeric ,paprika, cumin and cayenne. Yummy!!

I usually order Indian food at a medium spicy level. I love spicy food but if it’s so hot that you can’t even taste the food, it’s not as enjoyable..at least for me. I asked for a takeout box at the beginning of the meal expecting to take leftovers home. The box ended up not being needed as I successfully polished off the entire plate! Yum! What a tasty way to start off a leisurely Saturday…

Eye Shadow Phases…

Tags

, ,

I love eye shadow. Funny thing is, I tend to look younger, fresher and more awake without it, but would never give it up completely. Some days I will go without but you will not see that happening too often!

I go through phases with the brands of eye shadows that I use on a daily basis.  Sometimes I will go for a couple of weeks and use nothing but MAC, other times I will go for a stretch and only reach for my Naked Palette or Naked Palette 2. My other brands of eye shadow are thrown into my rotation as well.

One of my all time favorite palettes that I always fall in love with each time I pull it out of my stash is the Too Faced Natural Eye palette…

I have had this palette for about a year and a half and have always considered it one of my favorites. I love neutrals and this palette is the perfect combo of buttery smooth neutral shadows…

L to R- Heaven, Silk Teddy, Nude Beach, Velvet Revolver, Sexpresso, Push-Up, Erotica, Honey Pot, Cocoa Puff

I tend to favor the middle row which is titled “Classic”. I apply Silk Teddy all over my lid as well as a light wash up to my brow bone. In the crease I use Push-Up or Erotica. Erotica is my favorite since it’s a nice cool toned brown with gold shimmer.

Top to Bottom- Push-up, Silk Teddy, Erotica

This palette comes with an application brush which I never use as well as little cards which instruct you on how to achieve certain looks.

The only downside to these eye shadows is that they tend to crease after all day wear. To combat this problem, I simply apply extra primer whenever I know I will be using this palette.

Do you stick to the same eye shadows daily or do you rotate like I do?

Tasty Lunch…

One of my favorite places to stop and grab a tasty sub and chips for lunch is Jimmy John’s!

I am addicted to the “Vegetarian” sub which is stuffed with provolone cheese,  avocado spread, alfalfa sprouts, cucumber, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. This sounds pretty basic but it’s seriously delicious! The avocado spread is the best part about this sandwich. Add some BBQ potato chips and you are set…

Yum!!
