The first Maybelline Baby Lips lip balm that I got was at the end of 2011. I believe I had collected points from Ulta and got to pick out a free item and ended up with “Pink Punch”. Thinking it was just a sheer balm, I slapped it on in the dark in the car and then walked into Starbucks soon realizing my lips were BRIGHT pink! Oops! So a light application is best with this particular flavor. Soon after I purchased “Quenched” and “Peach Kiss”. I had been using those until just recently when I noticed a few of the limited edition shades and snatched those up right away. So basically over the past month I have added “Melon Mania”, “Yummy Plummy”, “Twinkle” and “Pink Wink” to my collection. The packaging is my favorite part of these balms. I love the bright multicolored tubes! All of the flavors smell wonderful and I like how some range from no color at all to pretty darn pigmented. I haven’t quite picked out a favorite yet…

Usually I toss one of these in my bag each morning depending on what my lip combo of the day is. These balms help keep my lips hydrated between lipstick and gloss applications. The one thing that I have noticed that is a bit disappointing is the fact that, at least for me, they don’t tend to be all that moisturizing. I’m thinking that during the dry winter months I will mostly stick to my more intense lip treatments during the day and use these occasionally. Once spring and summer roll around, I will use the Baby Lips more often since the weather won’t be as dry. These are great during the summer when you are outside and want a balm with SPF (20) and a hint of color. The balm itself is lightweight so if during a balmy day (no pun intended) you don’t want to deal with sticky gloss or lipstick these are perfect! I’m looking forward to seeing if they come out with any other flavors in the future, but for this spring and summer I’m plenty stocked up!

Superga Shoes…

Last weekend I had never seen nor heard of Superga sneakers. I happened to run across them while at the mall and was drawn to the bright colors and chunky, sturdy look of the shoe. I haven’t worn chunky looking shoes since around 1999 and haven’t really paid much attention to chunkier styles since then. On a normal basis I wear flats during the day, heels when going out in the evenings or to lunch with friends and tennis/running shoes while working out. I avoid wearing sneakers when not working out since I feel like it looks too casual. After admiring these Superga “Cotu” sneakers, my mind may have been changed…

The colors are what really make me love them. They would look so cute in the spring and summer with shorts or a casual sundress. There are so many colors available it would really be hard to choose just one! I didn’t try them on since I knew that if I did I would probably want to purchase them and at the moment since I’m working on saving money that wouldn’t be the best idea. Since this is the case, I have added them to my wish list. They look very comfy so running around during the day would surely be a breeze with pain free feet!

For The Love Of Cartier…

Oh how I drool over Cartier jewelry! A few of my favorite pieces are from the Love collection…

Love Ring

Love Wedding Band

Love Necklace

When it comes to diamonds, or any other kind of gem or stone, I gravitate towards a bezel setting in terms of jewelry. This kind of setting prevents snags in clothing and fabric from the prongs and just looks and feels sturdy in the surrounding metal. This is what I really like about the Love necklace and ring which I have pictured above.

Adding to the inspiration factor are numerous celebrities that are always sporting Cartier jewels. Kylie Jenner is one of them…

To Cut Or Not To Cut…

I have figured out over the years that I look best with hair that is longer than shoulder length. When I was 19, I had a pixie cut. Thinking back on that now I shudder. Never again!! There have been a few times in my life that my hair was waist length. I prefer longer hair on myself and am blessed with thick, healthy, shiny hair that grows very fast. Currently my hair is a soft black color and layered. The longest part is waist length while the shortest layer is to my chest. I frequently receive compliments on my hair as well as people asking if it’s real. This is always very flattering but it’s getting to the point now where it’s almost too long, I’ve always been the kind of girl who gives 100% to my makeup in the morning but always keeps my hairstyle very simple. By simple I mean washing it every other day and brushing/combing it. That’s it. Again, I’m very blessed to have nice hair that I honestly don’t need to style for it to look presentable, but the length is staring to interfere with that.

I’ve been seriously thinking of cutting it chest length and adding some cute bouncy layers that would help with volume. I know that this will make my hair even healthier than it already is as well as get rid of the black hair color that I’ve been trying to fade/get rid of for the past couple of months. On a side note, my desired hair color is a dark rich chocolate brown. I’ve always been one that gets bored with my hair style or color after a year or two so it doesn’t surprise me that I’m looking for a bit of a change. It will still be long and will always grow, so really there is nothing for me to worry about. Here are some inspirational looks that I have come across while browsing online…

I love the wavy look shown in the images above and would definitely wear my hair this way if/when I cut it. This length would also look cute straightened as well!

What are your thoughts on hair length?

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette…

I actually used a holiday gift card to purchase the Urban Decay Naked Basics eye shadow palette back in January. I didn’t actually use it for a few weeks after I purchased it since I was really enjoying my other eye shadows at the time. This  reinforced the fact that I didn’t really need this new palette since I have so many other neutral shades in my eye shadow stash. Since I already have the Urban Decay Naked Palette as well as the Naked 2, I just couldn’t pass up yet another collection of neutral shades of shadow since 90% of the shadow I wear is neutral…

UD Naked Basics

I love the exterior packaging which is a rubbery plastic. I don’t believe that this rubbery texture will attract a lot of makeup grime like the NARS packaging does though. Like the Naked and Naked 2 palettes there is a large mirror inside which is perfect for travel if you happen to be without a mirror. Now, on to the eye shadows themselves. So far the look that I have been creating with this palette is applying a wash of “Venus” or “W.O.S” over my lid and brow bone and “Faint” in the crease. I have been using “Naked 2″ on my lower lash line and a bit of “Crave” to set my black eyeliner. Going from day to night is definitely possible with this cute little palette since you have a good range of your basic light to dark neutrals. I love the fact that these colors are matte except for “Venus” which has the slightest bit of shimmer. If I ever want a “no eye shadow”  look or simply just need something very natural I reach for this palette. One thing I did notice that is a bit of a downer is that all of the colors to the left of “Faint” seem to be not as pigmented as I would like. I guess that if you want to accomplish the natural look, shadows more on the sheer side are the way to go. All in all, this is a very nice little palette, but if I had to choose, I would most likely still pick Naked and Naked 2 over this one.

Covergirl LashBlast Fusion Mascara…

Tags

IMG_2927About a month ago, I ran out of my all time favorite mascara, L’Oreal Telescopic. I just so happened to receive a free sample of the Bobbi Brown “Everything” mascara while at the mall. I had never used a Bobbi Brown mascara before and I was in need of mascara in general at that point so it seemed to work out quite perfectly. In short, I wasn’t very happy with the Bobbi Brown mascara and decided that I should just pick up a new tube of mascara the next time I was out.

I had a coupon that was good for 2 Covergirl eye products so I picked up some clear mascara to use as brow gel and “LashBlast Fusion” mascara.  It’s been about 5 years since I’d last used a Covergirl mascara but figured I would try one that I hadn’t used before.

I’m not the kind of person who has tons of mascaras. I always have only 1 or 2 tubes around at a time to avoid them drying out and going bad. I’ve been a fan of the big chunky mascara tubes since they started appearing about 5 years ago. Honestly, after using this mascara for about 1 month now, I can say the best part of this product is the cute chunky purple tube. I find that the application process takes longer because there are not enough bristles and they are too short! My lashes are not super long or thick to begin with so I really have to work at applying a good amount to make my lashes look close to what I want. If you naturally have long, thick lashes I think this mascara would work a lot better for you. I have been using the Bobbi Brown mascara quite a bit lately since it works way better than the Covergirl! Again, I really feel that if you have great lashes to begin with, this mascara would be a good choice for you. At least I tried it! Next I will be testing some of the Maybelline mascaras. Love the chunky tubes!

So, in short, my thoughts on the Covergirl LashBlash Fusion…….. meh. Better luck to you!
